What data will my investor have access to?
When you connect accounting software (like QuickBooks or Xero), your investor can access:
- Transaction-level/journal data
- Customer and vendor information
- Chart of accounts
When you connect banking data sources, your investor can access each account’s:
- Account Details:
- Bank name (e.g., Chase, Wells Fargo)
- Account type (Checking, Savings, Credit Card, CD)
- Last 4 digits of account number (e.g., ****1234)
- Balance Information:
- Available Balance - Funds available to withdraw or spend right now (net of pending transactions)
- Current Balance - Total balance of cleared transactions (Not including pending transactions)
- Currency - The default currency of the bank account and its balance(s)
When you upload files, your investor can access and download those specific files.
Can I specify what data my investor can access from my connected accounting data sources?
No, accounting software connections are all-or-nothing - when you connect, your investor gets access to all financial data from that source for the purpose of data completeness. Excluding specific data, transactions, accounts, will often lead to incomplete financial/account data that does balance and will raise red flags.
What happens when I disconnect an accounting data source?
When you disconnect:
- Data stops syncing immediately
- Historical data your investor already received remains accessible to them
- You can reconnect the same source later if needed
How can I share data from multiple accounting software?
You can connect multiple accounting data sources. This is common when you have:
- Multiple business entities
- Different accounting systems for different divisions
- Historical data in one system and current data in another,
Especially if they are managed by separate Xero/QuickBooks accounts.
Each connected accounting entity can be managed separately on your “Data Sources” page.
What should we do if the colleague who previously shared data with Verified Metrics has left?
The data source connections should remain active even if the original person who set it up is inactive. However, if the need to reconnect data sources arises, you can:
- Log into your colleague’s Verified Metrics account if you have access to the credentials as part of an off-boarding process to reconnect the data source(s), or
- If you do not have access to their Verified Metrics account, you or someone else with an active Verified Metrics account can connect the data source by adding it as a new data sources on your “Data Sources” page

I don't have the data source, how can I invite my colleague to share?
If you don't have access to accounting software, bank account credentials, or files that need to be uploaded, you can invite a colleague with access/credentials to join your organization on Verified Metrics.
