Connecting accounting data

Connect your QuickBooks or Xero account to securely share financial data with your investor. This takes less than 5 minutes and uses secure OAuth authentication.

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • QuickBooks Online or Xero account (not QuickBooks Desktop)
  • Admin access to your accounting system

Connecting Xero/QuickBooks

  1. Or, you can navigate to Data Connection
      • Click the "Connect Data Source" button and select Xero or QuickBooks
        • Notion image
  1. Authenticate with Xero/QuickBooks
      • You'll be redirected to Xero or QuickBooks secure login page
      • Log in with your Xero or QuickBooks credentials

  1. Confirm Connection You'll see your Xero/QuickBooks entities and your data will begin syncing (This will normally take less than 5 minutes, but can be longer for entities with many years of data). Your investor will be notified when data is available.
  1. Connect Additional Entities
    1. You can always connect additional sources if you are managing multiple accounting sources across different Xero or QuickBooks accounts, in order to give your investors a full picture of your company’s financials.

How Often Does Data Sync?

Initial Sync:

This happens immediately after connection and includes all historical data.

Ongoing Syncs:

This happens automatically every 24 hours, ensuring your investor always has current data.

How to Verify It's Working

After connecting, check the list of accounting sources on the Data Sources page:

  • Status shows "Connected"
  • Data Status shows “Up-to-date”
