Data request statuses

Every data request shows a status so you can tell at a glance whether you're up-to-date or something needs doing. This article explains what each status means and how to act on it.

Why statuses matter

A data request keeps both you and the investor looking at the same picture. The status tells you whether the current period is on track, due soon, or stuck — so nothing falls through the cracks and you're never guessing what's expected.

Request statuses at a glance

You'll see one of these badges on each request in your Data Requests list and on the request's detail page:

  • Healthy — You're up to date. Every period is complete and all connected data sources are working.
  • Outstanding — A period is open and waiting for data, but the deadline hasn't passed yet. You can provide data and mark as complete to get this request to a “Healthy” state
  • Needs Attention — Something is blocking the request. A period is overdue, or a connected data source has disconnected. This is the one to act on.
  • Rejected — You've rejected the request and the investor hasn't responded yet. It stays here until they adjust or replace it.
  • Closed — The investor has ended the request. It moves to your Closed tab for reference and needs nothing further.

Period statuses

Within a request, each monthly period also has its own status:

  • Overdue — The deadline has passed and the period isn't complete yet. You'll see a banner such as "Overdue Since 1 Apr 2026".
  • Complete — The period has been confirmed — either you marked it complete, or it completed automatically from your connected data sources.
  • Skipped — The period was closed out because the investor ended the whole request before it was completed.

If one or more past periods are waiting on you, you'll see a prompt like "1 period awaiting confirmation" with a Review & Complete button to clear it.

What "Needs Attention" means and how to fix it

Needs Attention appears for one of three reasons. Here's how to resolve each:

1. A period is overdue A deadline has passed without the period being completed.

  • Open the request, add the missing data with + Add data, then click Mark Complete.

2. A connected data source has disconnected A connection (for example, Xero or your bank) has stopped working, so data can no longer flow.

  • The data source shows a Disconnected badge. Open it and choose Reconnect, then sign in again. Once reconnected, the request returns to healthy and any waiting period can complete.

3. You rejected the request The request shows Rejected and is waiting on the investor.

  • No action needed from you. The investor will read your note and either adjust the request or replace it with a new one.

Reconnecting a data source

If a data source disconnects:

  1. Open the request and find the source with the Disconnected badge.
  1. Open the “…” more options dropdown for the disconnected source and click Reconnect.
  1. Sign in to the provider again to restore the connection.

Once reconnected, data flows again automatically and the request returns to Healthy (or completes any period that was waiting).

Common Questions

My request says "Needs Attention" but I haven't changed anything — why?

Most often a connected data source has lost its connection, or a period passed its deadline. Open the request to see which, then reconnect the source or add the missing data.

Will I be told when a request needs attention?

Yes. Verified Metrics emails everyone in your organisation when a period is due, on the deadline, and shortly after if it's still incomplete, with a link straight to the request.

A period shows "Overdue" — did I miss the deadline permanently?

No. You can still complete an overdue period at any time. Add the data and mark it complete, and the request returns to healthy.

What does "Outstanding" mean — do I need to do anything?

Outstanding means a period is open but not past its deadline. You can provide data early, but nothing is overdue at this time.

Why is a past period marked "Skipped"?

A period is skipped when the investor closes the request before that period was completed. No action is needed.
