Requirements

To create a model, the company must have:

Connected accounting data - QuickBooks Online or Xero (at some point)

ℹ️

Note: Models can be generated even if the accounting data source connection is currently disconnected or the data is stale. The model will simply use the latest available data snapshot, regardless of when it was last updated.

Getting a Model

Step-by-Step

Navigate to the “Models” page of a company

You'll see available model types

Select the model you want

Click on the model card and a pop-up will open

Select an accounting entity

Choose from the company's connected QuickBooks or Xero entities

Click "Get model"

The model begins generating immediately

This typically takes under 1-2 minutes

Model downloads automatically

Once ready, the Excel file downloads to your device

Open the file to view your financial model

The model you download will use the latest available data from the selected accounting entity. If you return to create new models after more than a day, the model you download will reflect the changes in the company’s accounting entity.

This lets you preview and explore the model, and helps you decide which models will be most useful for you and your team

Troubleshooting

Long Loading Time

If model generation is taking longer than 5 minutes:

Try these steps:

Wait a few more minutes - Sources with large records take longer to load

Check back later - Close the window and try again in 5-10 minutes

Refresh and retry - Refresh the page and attempt to generate the model again

Contact support - If you are still facing issues, please email support@verifiedmetrics.com for further assistance

Common causes:

Large amount of accounting data being processed

Company's accounting system experiencing issues

Missing or Outdated Data

If the generated model is missing data or not showing the latest information:

Verify these items:

Check if accounting entity is disconnected:

Go to the company's Data Sources page and check if the entity’s “Status” shows "Disconnected"

If the entity is disconnected, this means that the company (a user from the company) needs to reconnect Xero or QuickBooks

Contact the company and let them know their accounting connection needs to be reconnected

Once the accounting entity is reconnected, the status should show as “Connected” and models you download should have the latest available data

Check accounting entity’s “Data Status”

Go to the company's Data Sources page and check if the accounting entity’s “Data status” - this shows when data was last updated

If it's been more than 2 days, there may be an issue with syncing data - please contact support@verifiedmetrics.com for further assistance

If the accounting entity is “Connected” and the data status is “Up-to-date” but data seems old:

It is most likely that the company has not yet updated their accounting system with the latest transactions

Contact the company and ask them to verify their QuickBooks/Xero has the latest transactions

They may need to reconcile or close their books

Sometimes transactions take time to appear in accounting systems

Can't Find Downloaded Model

If the model generated but you can't find the file:

Check your browser's default download folder

Look in Downloads folder on your computer

Check browser's download history (usually Ctrl+J or Cmd+J)

Try generating again and watch for the download notification
